Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an important layer of security to the MemberXP platform by requiring users to verify their identity through a second method of email or SMS, in addition to their password. This extra step helps protect sensitive information, prevent unauthorized access, and strengthen member trust. The following is a step-by-step guide that outlines how users can easily set up MFA to enhance their account security.
Important Note: User must complete at least one verification method; however, we strongly recommend enabling both email and SMS as backup authentication methods.
Verifying Email
Verify your email by entering your email address and clicking the Send Email Code button. You will receive an email with a verification code; enter the code in the field provided and click Verify Code to complete the verification.
Once the email is verified, the box will turn green to confirm that the action is complete.
Users can now click the blue Activate MFA button to complete the setup process using only their email as the primary authentication method. Alternatively, users may choose to verify their phone number to add SMS as an additional authentication option.
Verifying Phone Number
Verify your phone number by entering it in the field provided and clicking the blue Send SMS Code button. You will receive a text message with a verification code; enter the code in the field and click Verify Code to complete the process.
Once the phone number is verified, the box will turn green, confirming that the action is complete. The user will then select their primary authentication method—either SMS or email.
Users will need to click on Activate MFA to complete the set up process.
Login Experience after MFA has been established
After entering their username and password to log in, users will be prompted to enter a Second Factor Verification Code, which will be sent via email or SMS based on the primary authentication method selected during the initial MFA setup. Users will also have the option to resend the verification code through either email or SMS if needed.
For faster logins, the Remember this device feature is enabled by default. This allows users to bypass the authentication process when logging in from a previously verified device and internet connection. If preferred, we can disable this feature to require users to complete authentication at every login.
Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication is a quick and effective way to enhance account security and protect sensitive information. By completing the setup process, users add an important layer of protection and help maintain the trust and security standards that members expect.
